Description The project would contribute significantly to the Government's efforts to provide rescue and relief to the affected population and also enhance the capacity of the rescue and relief agencies to meet future needs by replacing the stock of emergency item. The National Disaster Management Agency will procure emergencies supplies including tents, and blankets. The stock will then be transferred to the store of provincial and state government according to their respective needs.
Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy The current flood disaster is of a scale beyond the capacity of Pakistan and its own agencies to meet the immediate expenses necessary to restore life-saving services to the affected populations. Pakistan needs help with meeting the costs of disaster management and coordination. The APDRF is a facility that can be used to help with some of the costs associated with the emergency response. The Government has requested assistance for this purpose.
