| Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy | The R-PATA aims to promote links and improve strategic and institutional coordination between and among ASEAN and the three subregional programs in Southeast Asia, where ADB is associated with, namely GMS, BIMP-EAGA and IMT-GT. The enhanced interface between and among these groupings would limit the risk of overlap or duplication of activities. This is important given ASEAN's wide-ranging regional economic integration initiatives under the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), where the subregional programs could play an important role to support ASEAN's efforts in realizing the AEC by 2015. | ||||

| Description of Project Outputs | 1. Assessment of progress and performance of the three subregional programs, with lessons learned and best practices highlighted. 2. Analysis of subregional issues and constraints in the three subregional programs and how these are being addressed. 3. Analysis of existing and potential links/interface and coordination issues among the three subregional programs and with ASEAN. 4. Mapping of subregional action plans and sector road maps vis-a-vis the AEC Blueprint. 5. Preparation of set of short-term and medium-term measures for strengthening coordination and promoting links/interface among the three subregional programs and with ASEAN. |

| During Project Design | The formulation of the R-PATA benefited from informal consultations with ASEAN Secretariat, and with GMS, BIMP-EAGA and IMT-GT representatives during various forums. |
