Description The overall goal of the Punjab Devolved Social Services Program (PDSSP) is to achieve progres on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) related to poverty, gender, education, health, and WSS. PDSSP objective is to strengthen devolved social services for a more equitable, efficient, effective, and sustainable delivery of social services in line with the Punjab Local Government Ordinance (PLGO). In order to achieve the goal and objective, it will be necessary to support reforms and capacity building to help (i) expand coverage of health services, especially for women and children, increase school enrolment rates, and improve access to WSS facilities; (ii) support locally driven programs identified and implemented by LGs in line with PRSP; (iii) move away from provincially driven-to demand driven- programs that are identified and implemented by local governments (LGs) in line with P-PRSP and provincial strategic plans and guidelines to achieve MDGs; and (iii) enhance the capacity of LGs to assume new roles and responsibilities in social services as envisaged under the PLGO, including participatory planning, implementing, and monitoring and evaluation.
