Sri Lanka: Sustainable Power Sector Support Project

The Sustainable Power Sector Support Project aimed to strengthen the power system network and improve electricity reliability in four of Sri Lanka’s nine provinces. Its three main components were (i) strengthening transmission system in Eastern, North Central, Southern and Uva provinces; (ii) expanding rural electrification and improving the distribution system in Eastern and Uva provinces; and (iii) improving energy efficiency and developing renewable energy. ADB provided a $110 million loan from the ordinary capital resources (OCR) to finance the project and another $10 million equivalent from ADB’s Special Funds to improve the Eastern province’s network in Ampara district and distribution capacity development.

This report validates the completion report's assessment of the project. IED overall assessment: Successful.
