The project will provide safe, reliable, and affordable water supply and sanitation to 62,000 people in three project cities of Lospalos, Viqueque, and Same. It will (i) finance the construction of new facilities for water supply and sanitation services and (ii) strengthen the regulatory and institutional capacity of both the Ministry of Public Works (MPW); the Municipal Water, Sanitation, and Environment Services (SMASAs); and the newly established state-owned water utility, Bee Timor-Leste (BTL), in service delivery, planning, financial management, and operation and maintenance.
