Impact of COVID-19 on Primary School Students in Disadvantaged Areas of Bangladesh

Among the key findings were the potential increase in dropout rates and decline in morale to study among primary school students. Although virtual learning modalities remain promising, the lack of access to digital devices is a major challenge for disadvantaged students. The brief calls for (i) prioritizing interventions to mitigate learning loss; (ii) focusing on essential learning competencies; (iii) scaling up education technology; (iv) strengthening support to teachers and community; (v) providing targeted support to students; and (vi) expanding financial support.
