The ADB loan will support E Smart in developing and operating 27 electric ferries (e-ferries) for mass rapid transit (MRT) along the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, Thailand. The project is expected to be the first commercial-scale use of e-ferries for MRT in Southeast Asia. The project will help reduce air and noise pollution and contribute to Thailand’s nationally determined contribution under the Paris Agreement by reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
