Bangladesh: Dhaka Water Supply Sector Development Program

The project was to support reforms in the urban water supply sector by assisting the government to improve the management and operation of urban water supply institutions. The project had three components: (i) distribution system and quality improvement; (ii) capacity building and institutional strengthening; and (iii) project management and implementation support. The project’s envisaged impact was sustained economic growth and public health improvement in the country’s urban centers, specifically in the Dhaka metropolitan area. The expected outcome was provision and sustainable operation of improved water supply services through rehabilitation and improvement of management and operation in the urban water supply institutions particularly in Dhaka.
