Enhancing ADB’s Support for Social Protection to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals: Uzbekistan - 2018 Social Protection Indicator

Overall expenditure on social protection increased by 45.8% between 2015 and 2018, and the GDP in current prices rose by 93.5%. However, as a share of social protection expenditures in GDP, expenditure decreased from 7.94% in 2015 to 5.98% in 2018. The 2018 SPI also decreased from 8.09% in 2015 to 6.27% in 2018. The 2018 SPI for social insurance is the highest (5.24%), as the majority of social protection expenditure and recipients are in social insurance programs. Social assistance is much smaller in scope and coverage (0.95%), as are labor market programs (0.08%).
