People and Planet: Addressing the Interlinked Challenges of Climate Change, Poverty and Hunger in Asia and the Pacific

20 February 2024 Bangkok, Thailand

Global collective climate action is not progressing fast enough to reduce carbon emissions or build the necessary adaptive capacity to the impacts of changing weather patterns. In the Asia-Pacific region, climate change is worsening poverty and hunger and is undoing gains in sustainable development achieved over decades.

This edition of the Asia-Pacific SDG Partnership Report — People and Planet: addressing the interlinked challenges of climate change, poverty and hunger in Asia and the Pacific — focuses on how the varying impacts of climate change across the region are interacting with other crises such as the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and cost-of-living crisis to impact poverty and hunger in the region.

This report launch session during the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD), will explore transformative solutions and examples of innovations, good practices, and responses from across the region. Join the live stream on this YouTube link.

The Asia Pacific SDG Partnership provides a platform for delivering knowledge to support the region’s effective implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Its annual thematic report informs implementation of the UN’s 2030 Agenda and supports regional dialogue during the APFSD, in preparation for the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF).

The event will bring together a diverse panel of leaders to reflect on the insights from the Asia Pacific SDG Partnership Report and surface examples of innovative solutions and policy responses from across the region to combat climate change, poverty and hunger.
