IDAHOBIT is observed annually on 17 May and is dedicated to raising awareness about the discrimination and violence experienced by LGBTQI+ individuals worldwide. The day serves as an opportunity to advocate for inclusivity, acceptance, and the protection of the rights of LGBTQI+ people.

Objectives

Reflect on the critical roles of major development institutions, including government legislators, the private sector, civil society (including academia and media), and international development agencies such as ADB, as catalysts and partners in promoting recognition of the rights of people with diverse sexual orientation, gender identity, expression and sex characteristics (SOGIESC) to equality, freedom, and just treatment.

Target participants

ADB staff, government representatives, civil society organizations, academics, think tanks, and other stakeholders
