Pacific Liaison and Coordination Office (PLCO)
The Pacific Liaison and Coordination Office (PLCO) is ADB's representative office in Sydney, Australia, and also acts as a focal point for New Zealand. It allows ADB to be more responsive to the development needs of the Pacific and further strengthens its relations with governments, the private sector, academia, media and other key stakeholders in the region.
PLCO’s responsibilities include:
- promoting private sector development across all 15 of ADB's Pacific developing member countries via the Pacific Private Sector Development Initiative, which is co-financed by the Governments of Australia and New Zealand;
- hosting joint activities and holding consultations with academic and research institutions, and civil society;
- coordinating and hosting high-level visits from ADB Headquarters to Australia, New Zealand, and countries of responsibility; and
- facilitating country reporting and updating, aid coordination, external relations and information dissemination.

Naoyuki Yoshino has been appointed Dean of the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI). Mr. Yoshino, a Japanese national, is currently a Professor of Economics at Keio University, Japan.

Work begins today to upgrade and rehabilitate the Ringgi Wharf on Kolombangara Island in Western Province. The wharf is one of four wharves to be improved under the Domestic Maritime Support Project which is financed by the Solomon Islands Government, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Australian Government, and the New Zealand Aid Programme.
During a one-day visit to areas affected by Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda), Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Takehiko Nakao expressed empathy and deep concern for survivors dealing with the super storm’s aftermath as he assessed potential sites for assistance and inaugurated ADB’s new office in Tacloban, Leyte.
