India : Calcutta Environmental Improvement
The objective of the TA is to prepare a Municipal Calcutta Environmental Improvement Program (MCEIP) setting out a technically and financially viable program for improvement of drainage, wastewater management, and solid waste management as well as other investments necessary for improving environmental quality over the next 20 years within the jurisdiction of Calcutta Municipal Corporation (CMC). The TA will include preparation of a feasibility study for the highest priority drainage, wastewater, and solid waste management improvements, inlcuding management of hospital wastes and improvement of slum environments. The TA will also recommend an institutional framework and capacity building for implementation of MCEIP by CMC and a financial management framework that assures long-term cost recovery and financial viability.

Consulting Services | About 24 person-months of international and 54 person-months of domestic consulting services will be required. The international consultants will consist of environmental engineer, environmental and social economist, urban infrastructure financial analyst, sewerage engineer, solid waste management engineer, environmental impact assessment specialist, and hospital waste management specialist. The domestic consutlants will consist of sanitary engineer, wastewater treatment engineer, sociologist, economist, financial analyst, pollution prevention expert, solid waste management engineer, drainage/sewerage engineer, cost estimator, environmental impact assessment specialist, and public health specialist. |
