The objective of the TA is to carry out a feasibility study of improving transport infrastructure in West Bengal that would generate economic growth, reduce poverty and promote trade between West Bengal adn the northeastern states of India and neighboring countries.

In line with ADB requirements, the TA will carry out preliminary engineering for the rehabilitation/improvement of National Highway 34 which connects Calcutta to Shiliguri.
