India : SSTA for Resettlement and Environmental Assessment for the West Bengal Corridor Development
The objective of the TA is to carry out a feasibility of improving transport infrastructure in West Bengal that would generate economic growth, reduce poverty and promote trade between West Bengal and the northeastern states of India and neighboring countries.
In line with ADB requirements, the TA will (i) review the environmental impact analysis of the Project and prepare the environmental impact assessment (EIA) and the summary EIA, (ii) carry out the social impact assessment (SIA) and prepare the SIA report, and (iii) assist the Government in drawing up a land acquisition and resettlement plan for the rehabilitation/improvement of National Highway 34 which connects Calcutta to Shiliguri.
