The objective of the proposed TA is to assist the Government to review and strengthen the feasibility study, the environmental impact assement, and the resettlement plan to satisfy the requirements for ADB financing of the proposed Project. The scope of the TA will cover railway engineering including alignment review, intermodal traffic analysis, economic, financial and socio-economic analysis including poverty reduction impact, review of resettlement arrangements and the environmental impact assessment. Local survey for resettlement and socio-economic sampling will also be undertaken. The Project envisages the construction of a 975 km Class I, double track electrified railway between Taiyuan to Dingbian and a single track electrified railway from Dingbian to Yinchuan and Zhongwei.
