India : Advanced Project Preparedness for Poverty Reduction - Preparing the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Transmission Program (Subproject 19)
The government of Rajasthan (GOR) has set out the policy and regulatory framework in April 2011 to attract solar power developers to the state under various modalities. The framework also identifed solar parks as a vehicle to develop large scale solar projects in the state. The TA's impact will be support provided for large scale renewable energy development in a cost-effective manner in Rajasthan. The outcome is successful and timely development of the lending facility for development of public sector infrastructure facilities to encourage renewable power generation in West Rajasthan.

Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy | GOI and GOR have requested ADB to provide technical and financial support for development and operation of the solar park in Bhadla which has commenced through another sub-project of the Government of UK financed and ADB administered cluster TA Advanced Project Preparedness for Poverty Reduction. In October 2011, at the request of Government of India, ADB started processing a multitranche financing facility to Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (RVPN) to support the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Transmission Program that would support development and evacuation of over 4,000 MW of renewable energy (including solar and wind) from the western part of Rajasthan. The TA supported required project preparatory activities for the facility that has been considered by the ADB Board in 2013. |
