Description The technical assistance will provide guidance and assistance to the implementing agency in project preparation of indicative selected subprojects, assessment of economic feasibility and financial sustainability of subprojects, procurement, safeguards, project management and financial management to ensure timely implementation of Uttarakhand Emergency Assistance Project. The technical assistance will also provide assistance to the Government of Uttarakhand in adopting modern technologies in design, construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, tunnels and tourism & hospitality infrastructure suited to disaster-prone geographical and climatic conditions in Uttarakhand.
Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy Loan 3055 - IND: Uttarakhand Emergency Assistance Project in an amount of $200 million has been approved by ADB on 28 October 2013. The loan will assist in rehabilitation of damaged roads and bridges, urban water supply infrastructure, tourism infrastructure and trekking routes as well as improve disaster preparedness through construction of helipads, heliports, or helidromes with associated amenities for emergency evacuation and relief operations. The technical assistance will help the Government of Uttarakhand in project preparation and implementation of Uttarakhand Emergency Assistance Project and in the adoption of modern technologies for road and tourism infrastructure.
