Summary

ADB is helping Georgia ensure that essential social services and protections are maintained and service quality improved. The project will provide a revenue cushion as the economy recovers, while supporting ongoing social protection reforms, including effective and gender-equitable coverage of services, initiatives to support retirement needs, and improving access to health care and education.

Description

The Program complements the Government's reform agenda by improving the effectiveness and efficiency of social services delivery and social protection programs through (i) improved targeting mechanisms of social assistance transfer; (ii) measures to help ensure sufficient income replacement after retirement; (iii) improved public social delivery standards; and (iv) improved public financial management to better manage resources and improve accountability.

The proposed loan will enable the Government to continue to support social services delivery and social protection programs, while improving their effectiveness and efficiency.
