Summary

ADB is helping the Lao People's Democratic Republic promote the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The project will continue to support the government’s efforts to develop the private sector and SMEs through the implementation of a policy that widens access of SMEs to support services, improving regulatory efficiency, and strengthening trade policies to support SME development.

Status of Implementation Progress (Outputs, Activities, and Issues)

Component 1: Recruitment of experts are ongoing. Advertisements have been concluded and the EA is now at the stage of evaluating the EOIs received. Procurement of the equipment, furniture, and vehicle is at its final stage.

Component 2: Advertisement for the engagement of the consulting firm has ended but needs to be readvertised as only 2 EOI were received during the 30-days period of advertisement.

Component 3: Contracting of Barterfli who will provide the e-Commerce platform under component 3 is at its final stage with the draft contract waiting to be signed by the EA representative.

Component 4: Recruitment of the Procurement Specialist and the Senior Project Manager have been finalized. The experts were mobilized during Q2 2015. Recruitment of the Junior Project Manager has just been finalized also. Procurement of the equipment, furniture, and vehicle under the project is also at it's final stage after evaluating the bids received.
