Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy | (i) addressing remaining poverty and reducing inequalities through provision of safe, all-weather roads linking rural communities with education, employment, and services; (ii) accelerating progress in gender equality through training, jobs, and improved safety for vulnerable road users, who are more often women and children; (iii) tackling climate change, building climate and disaster resilience, through including climate adaptation and mitigation principles; (iv) promoting rural development and food security through improvement of transport infrastructure; (v) strengthening governance and institutional capacity in road safety, road asset management, and climate adaptation and mitigation; and (vi) fostering regional cooperation and integration through improving access to markets and supporting CAREC Transport Strategy 2030. |
