Description This research and development TA aims to support SDG progress in Asia and the Pacific, drawing upon comparative advantage of ADB in providing and leveraging finance for development as well as in contributing knowledge. It proposes resources for ADB''s external engagements and internal measures to (i) enhance its collaboration with partners on SDG tracking, contribute to assessing implementation challenges, and identifying opportunities presented by the SDGs; and (ii) develop a cohesive response to the SDGs identifying potentials for future directions and business prospects to better support DMCs.
Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy The ADB and its developing member countries (DMCs) will benefit from this TA on SDG which builds upon the MDG experience, complements efforts of other development partners, and supports ADB in its ongoing and forward-looking engagements where it can add value. It addresses two types of issues: (i) forward-looking challenges critical to sustainable development, with diagnosis of strategic bottlenecks to SDG progress, and (ii) complexities in tracking and reporting of SDG progress. Shared perspectives on the analyses of forward-looking challenges faced by DMCs, especially ones that cut across several SDGs, will be critical for development cooperation.
