Description The main activities under the ADB-administered GEF co-finance component include: i) gender inclusive social marketing campaigns to increase awareness of energy efficiency at multiple levels, ii) design and establishment of an energy efficiency revolving fund (EERF), to be managed by EESL, iii) pilot subproject investments in at least three new technology areas as part of EESL's expansion plans, and iv) defining future investment opportunities in new energy efficiency markets, including project pipeline for the EERF.
Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy The additional financing will help EESL to expand to new technologies, including smart meters/grids, tri-generation, super-efficient ceiling fans, as well as other market segments, which are deemed feasible through due diligence processes. This will complement EESL's existing business lines, and through the GEF grant finance, allow pilot subproject investments in higher risk market segments.
