The TA is expected to help implement the ADB Facility by identifying suitable private companies as partners, willing to select and support smallholder farm producers in offering marketable produce and providing the necessary facilities for storage and marketing. The TA will as well identify financial institutions willing to participate by funding the farmers under appropriate risk mitigation structures acceptable to these financial intermediaries, agribusiness companies and ADB.

Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy | ADB has explored opportunities to promote rural financial inclusion in Pakistan through an approach by linking farmers to agribusiness companies and banks to achieve both business and social impact. Consultations with the government, development partners, private commercial banks, and agribusiness companies identified the dairy value chain as a promising entry point. Providing private investment capital to promote the use of locally adapted, higher-yielding dairy cattle would enhance private, government, and development partner efforts to improve rural incomes, and farm management. |
