Bangladesh : City Region Development Project II
The project will support infrastructure development and regional urban planning to stimulate urban development in Dhaka and Khulna. The project will support the priority infrastructure investments recommended in the Dhaka Structure Plan and priority infrastructure investments as identified by the Khulna Development Authority. It will also develop the physical and spatial planning in city regions to maximize economic benefits. The project will support strengthening the (i) capacity of the Khulna Development Authority to develop a resilient urban plan involving efficient land use; (ii) transportation and/or road network within Dhaka and Khulna city regions; and (iii) coordination mechanisms of various agencies involved in delivering climate- and disaster-resilient, inclusive, and environmentally sensitive infrastructure and basic services in these two city regions.

Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy | The City Region Development Project II (CRDP II) will build upon the achievements and lessons learned from the first City Region Development Project (CRDP I) to promote inclusive and environmentally sustainable economic growth in the two city regions along Bangladesh's Southwest Economic Corridor (SWEC), which is one of the promising economic corridors of Bangladesh. Recognizing the economic potential, the Government of Bangladesh has given high priority to develop the city regions of Dhaka and Khulna. | ||||||

Consulting Services | The PPTA will require about 60 person-months of consulting services (21 international and 39 national). ADB is recruiting consultants on firm and individual basis, and work together with PDA consultant firm to achieve better cooperation. All consultants will be recruited in accordance with the Guidelines on the Use of Consultants by Asian Development Bank and Its Borrowers (2013, as amended from time to time). |
