|Objectives and Scope||The project entails the construction and operation of a 2,500 megawatt natural gas power project in Chonburi province, Thailand. The project will provide significant generating capacity that is reliable, efficient, and cost-effective. The project will be one of the largest power plants in Thailand and will help meet the projected growth and industrial transformation plans under the Eastern Economic Corridor program. The project will utilize natural gas and will be the first to employ a new high-efficiency technology that reduces pollutants and emissions, providing cleaner air quality and lower carbon footprint.|

ADB's support for the project is also in line with its country partnership strategy for Thailand, 2013 2016, 13 and its country
operations business plan, 2018 2020,14 both of which promote the support for private sector development, energy infrastructure, and responding to Thailand's needs and priorities as an
upper middle-income country.
