Description of Outcome Extractive sector governance improved
Progress Toward Outcome The project effectiveness date is 23 July 2019. Under the Output 1: Commitment to the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative standard maintained and improved, the recruitment of the lead Extractives Industries Transparency International (EITI) specialist , EITI financial specialist and EITI IT expert have been completed and the consultants are on board since September 2019. The recruitment of EITI communications specialist are ongoing. The TA coordinator have been recruited since November 2019.

Status of Implementation Progress (Outputs, Activities, and Issues) The project effectiveness date is 23 July 2019. Under the Output 1: Commitment to the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative standard maintained and improved. The EITI Report for Mongolia was successfully launched in 2019 with support of ADB. The Lead Extractives Industries Transparency International (EITI) specialist, EITI financial specialist, TA coordinator and EITI IT expert have been are on board as of now. The recruitment of EITI communications specialist are ongoing and delayed due to a lack of qualified EOIs.

During Project Design Consultation was undertaken with government, civil society and development partners during project design. The EITI process in Mongolia is overseen by a working group comprised of government, civil society and the private sector, which will facilitate consultation during project implementation. Successful completion of all outputs will also require extensive consultation.
