Description The Modern Skills for Better Jobs Sector Development Program will support the government s VET program to promote job creation in high-value sectors, economic growth, and reduce poverty. Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy The program will strengthen the VET subsectors ability to support economic growth and job creation in priority sectors, introducing innovations to improve the quality of the VET subsector and its responsiveness to market needs, including through the development of public private partnerships (PPPs), centers of excellence (COEs), sector skills councils, and industry VET institute links. There are synergies with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) technical assistance (TA) for Livable Urban Areas: Integrated Urban Plans for Balanced Regional Development, and the proposed regional TA for Sustainable Tourism Development in the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Region, such as in the choice of sectors and institutes. It will complement work on PPPs being carried out under the proposed Second Domestic Resource Mobilization Program.
