Description The knowledge and support technical assistance (TA) will support the efforts of the developing member countries (DMCs) of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to build livable cities that are green, competitive, inclusive, and resilient by applying innovative and integrated solutions in project development, design, and execution.
Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy The TA is aligned with ADB's Strategy 2030 and its Operational Plan for Priority 4: Making Cities More Livable, 2019-2024, which aims to improve the coverage, quality, efficiency, and reliability of services in urban areas; strengthen urban planning and the financial sustainability of cities; and improve the urban environment, climate resilience, and disaster risk management of cities. It is being developed in close consultation with ADB operations departments and has been supported by the Urban Sector Group Committee (comprising of directors from the operations departments). Additionally, it will build on lessons from previous activities of ADB's regional departments, Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department, and urban development initiatives at other multilateral development organizations. The TA is included in the Management-approved 2019 results-based work plan of the Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department.
