Description The project will support the Government of Maldives to strengthen gender-responsive processes, practices, and services (particularly for children, elderly, and victims-survivors of GBV) at central and decentralized levels. It is aligned with the following impact: gender-based violence minimized and gender barriers preventing equal rights, participation, and benefits for women in social and economic spheres eliminated. Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy The project will strengthen the Government of Maldives' capacity to pursue evidence-based gender equality policies and programs and support vulnerable women in collaboration with civil society organizations. It will heighten the impact of gender-responsive processes, practices, and service provisions at central and decentralized levels. The project supports the government Sustainable Development Goal 5 transformative agenda as laid out in the National Gender Equality Act of 2016 and its Strategic Action Plan 2019 -2023.

Outcome Increased access to sustainable support services for elderly, children and survivors of GBV.

Systematic collection, management and reporting of data disaggregated by sex, age, and disability

GRB framework integrated into government planning and budgeting processes developed.

Capacity of public social sector to deliver and maintain services for elderly, children and GBV survivors strengthened.

A network of service providers for survivors of GBV in Mal and three outer atolls established.

Climate-resilient shelters for child- and elderly care and GBV survivors established in project areas.
