Cambodia : Trade and Competitiveness Program, Subprogram 1
The program will help the Government of Cambodia enhance the country's international competitiveness and diversify the economy, in turn helping the country to recover economically from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, achieve a higher income status, and improve the livelihoods of its citizens. The program supports three reform areas: (i) enhancing the enabling environment for investment and business; (ii) growing micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs); and (iii) improving trade policy and enhancing trade facilitation.

Project Rationale and Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy | The program is aligned with the government's Rectangular Strategy (Phase IV), the National Strategic Development Plan 2019-2023 and several sector strategies. Accelerating competitiveness and economic diversification are also Strategic Objectives of the ADB country partnership strategy for Cambodia. It contributes to the following operational priorities of ADB's Strategy 2030: (i) priority 1 (addressing remaining poverty and reducing inequalities); (ii) priority 2 (accelerating progress in gender equality); (iii) priority 3 (tackling climate change); (iv) priority 6 (strengthening governance and institutional capacity); and (v) priority 7 (fostering regional cooperation and integration). |

ADB to Help Diversify Cambodia’s Economy, Boost Competitiveness
ADB has approved a $50 million policy-based loan under subprogram 1 of the Trade and Competitiveness Program to support the Government of Cambodia to diversify the country’s economy and boost its global competitiveness.
