Second PRAN Agribusiness Project: Report and Recommendation of the President

Reports and Recommendations of the President | November 2018

The project will support Sylvan Agriculture Limited's (SAL) expansion into potato chips, potato flakes, and pasta through the financing of new food processing facilities. SAL will procure potatoes under contract farming arrangements and provide secure income to 2,000 smallholder farmers. Given the high poverty reduction impact at farming and factory levels, the project will promote inclusive business. ADB engaged with SAL to achieve effective gender mainstreaming in the project.

The report and recommendation of the President to the Board of Directors (RRP) document describes the terms and conditions of a project for consideration and approval by ADB's Board of Directors.

This document dated November 2018 is provided for the ADB project 51152-001 in Bangladesh.
