The project aims to improve energy security and the sustainable transition of the power sector in Maldives. It will help 20 outer islands attain higher levels of renewable energy penetration through capital-intensive investments in energy storage and associated technologies to ensure island grids are ready for higher renewable energy penetration.

The report and recommendation of the President to the Board of Directors (RRP) document describes the terms and conditions of a project for consideration and approval by ADB's Board of Directors.
