Enhancing ADB’s Support for Social Protection to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals: Fiji - Social Protection Indicator

Consultants' Reports | September 2022

This report analyzes Fiji’s social protection indicator (SPI) as calculated for 2018. The SPI is an indicator developed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) (2011) to monitor and report on progress of social protection coverage and expenditure, drawing upon official data on government expenditures and social protection program beneficiaries. The three categories of programs discussed here are social assistance, social insurance, and labor market programs, and comparisons are drawn with Fiji’s SPI in 2012 and 2015. This report expands on previous SPI reports by giving specific attention to the situation of people with disabilities in Fiji and the impact of the 2020–2021 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Consultants' reports describe activities by a consultant or group of consultants related to preparing a technical assistance project.

This document dated September 2022 is provided for the ADB 52012-001 in Fiji.
