Enhancing ADB’s Support for Social Protection to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals: Kazakhstan - 2018 Social Protection Indicator

Kazakhstan’s overall Social Protection Indicator (SPI) in 2018 is 4.62% of the gross domestic product (GDP) per capita. In 2018, expenditures on social protection amounted to T2,947 billion, with 6.52 million beneficiaries. The SPI for social insurance is 3.60% of the GDP per capita, accounting for 77.88% of all social protection expenditures and 45.79% of all beneficiaries. The SPI for social assistance is 0.96%, accounting for 20.69% of all social protection expenditures and 51.61% of all beneficiaries. Finally, the SPI for labor market programs was 0.07%, accounting for only 1.43% of social protection expenditures and 2.59% of all beneficiaries.
