The Social Protection Indicator (SPI) for the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) in 2018 slightly increased from 0.85% per capita GDP in 2015 to 0.63%. This takes into account the increased gross domestic product (GDP) per capita. Of the overall social protection expenditures, 95.11% went to social insurance, 4.82% to social assistance, and only 0.07% to labor market programs.
