This brief outlines the readiness of countries in the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program to use electronic phytosanitary certificates (ePhyto) to support safer and expanded agricultural trade.

The brief shares findings from a survey by ADB and the CAREC Institute on laws, procedures, and the use of information and communication technology to implement electronic phytosanitary certification in CAREC Program countries. It notes that CAREC members are well-placed to adopt ePhyto and suggests ways forward for policymakers’ consideration.
