Developing Asian economies have made significant strides in reducing extreme poverty in the last 2 decades to achieve the Millennium Development Goal of reducing by half the proportion of people living in extreme poverty. Despite the achievements and high growth, many economies in the region have witnessed growing income inequalities, leaving behind the poor and other disadvantaged sections of the society from the benefits of growth. If continued, this trend may endanger social peace and lead to political unrest, undermining the long-term sustainability of growth. Accordingly, inclusive growth is high on the national and international agenda. Measurement is important to strengthen the evidence base; and indicators provide policy makers with a snapshot to evaluate the effectiveness of policies toward inclusive growth. This publication proposes a Framework of Inclusive Growth Indicators (FIGI) suggesting indicators of outcomes of growth and opportunities, processes and inputs that are important to improve access to opportunities, social inclusion, social safety nets, and responsive governance and institution
