This joint publication examines the public provision of childcare across 48 economies in Asia and the Pacific. Its recommendations highlight how greater investment in childcare can advance gender equality and sustainable development.

The study focuses on accessibility, affordability, quality, and decent work for childcare workers. It provides an in-depth analysis of the policy and institutional frameworks for childcare at ages 0-6, and includes case studies that reflect the voices of parents, childcare providers and childcare workers. Based on its findings, the study offers recommendations for increased investments in the childcare sector.
