Irrigation Performance Assessment Using Satellite Remote Sensing: Insights from Tajikistan

Publication | September 2020

This publication emphasizes how satellite remote sensing technology can effectively aid in the design, monitoring, and evaluation of irrigation performance based on a study conducted on the Chubek Irrigation System in Tajikistan.

Rapid advances in remote sensing technology has made it increasingly suitable for analyzing river basins and large irrigation systems in developing countries. Results of the study presented in the brief provides a valuable guide for assessing irrigation system performance using remote sensing data as well as modernizing existing systems and designing new ones.
