Kazakhstan: Development Effectiveness Brief

Publication | March 2011

This country brief summarizes how the partnership of ADB and the Government of Kazakhstan has been instrumental to the development of the country. Since operations began in 1994, ADB has approved 19 loans totaling $1.7 billion.

ADB is preparing a new country partnership strategy to support Kazakhstan in going beyond its middle-income country status. ADB will promote inclusive economic growth and competitiveness through complementary public and private sector investments. ADB will consolidate its resources to support synergized investments in energy, transport, finance, and the urban sectors. These will be complemented by governance, gender equity, regional cooperation and integration, public–private partnership, private sector development and operations, and mitigation of the effects of climate change.
