The report examines the adoption of E-Government in Asia-Pacific in recent years. E-Government is the use of information and communication technology (ICT) to enable more efficient, cost-effective, and participatory government, facilitate more convenient government services, allow greater public access to information, and make government more accountable to citizens. These practices reinforce other reforms that are helping countries to better compete in the regional and global economy by strengthening markets and individual choice that in turn promote economic growth and poverty reduction.

The Asia Economic Monitor (AEM) is a semiannual review of emerging East Asia's growth, financial and corporate sector restructuring, and emerging policy issues. It covers the 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations member countries plus the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Korea.

The Asia Bond Monitor reviews the development of East Asian local currency bond markets. It examines market size and composition, market liquidity, and yields and returns.

The Pakistan Country Report discusses the gender equality results achieved for three projects in Pakistan - the Malakand Rural Development Project (approved approved on March 18, 1999), the Women's Health Project (approved on February 1999), and the Decentralization Support Program (approved on 21 November 2002); summarizes factors that enhanced the quality of project design and implementation; and provides recommendations to maximize gender equity as a driver of change.

The Education and Training Sector Strategy for the Pacific provides a framework for Asian Development Bank (ADB) support to education development in its 14 Pacific developing member countries (PDMC). It reviews the implications of the "Pacific Strategy (2005-2009): Responding to the Priorities of the Poor" for the education sector and proposes to sharpen the focus and enhance the effectiveness of ADB support to education in the region.

Live fish have long been traded around Southeast Asia as a luxury food item. Fish captured on coral reefs entered this trade only in recent years but, because of their superior taste or texture, have become the most valued fish in the trade.

This book is the result of the work by nine independent scientists who agreed to contribute their time to write on specific topics within their individual expertise on live reef food fish (LRFF) trade issues.

The picture that emerges from this book is extremely worrying: the LRFF trade has caused degradation of the resources on which the trade depends, and hence has to move farther and farther from the main market centers in order to continue to supply them.

This report reviews Indonesia's investment climate and productivity based on the results of the Investment Climate and Productivity Study (ICS) in 2003. The ICS was carried out through a survey of 713 firms in 11 regions and in 10 subsectors of manufacturing. The survey was conducted by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the World Bank, in collaboration with the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs (CMEA) and the Indonesian Central Board of Statistics (BPS).
