Hong Kong, China joined ADB in 1969. It has provided $769.36 million in capital subscription to ADB. It has also contributed and committed $148.89 million to Special Funds since becoming a member.
India is a founding member of ADB and the bank’s fourth largest shareholder. Since commencing operations in 1986, ADB has aligned its operations in the country to the government’s developing priorities.
ADB committed $1.88 billion to Indonesia in 2022 mainly to accelerate the country’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

ADB is among the largest multilateral issuers in Kazakhstan’s domestic capital market. Current ADB operations in the country support economic diversification, inclusive development, and sustainable growth.
ADB has been supporting Kiribati in building fiscal stability and upgrading infrastructure since 1974.
The Kyrgyz Repubic joined ADB in 1994, ADB has remained one of the country's largest multilateral development partners.
