University - Industry - Government Partnership for Economic Development in Indonesia

In Indonesia, effective university - industry - government partnerships have been very few, but the Master Plan for Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesia Economic Development 2011-25 provides an opportunity to change that.
Promoting university - industry - government (UIG) partnerships for research and innovation has long been a key feature of economic development strategy in Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) countries - and now increasingly in developing countries. Strengthening human resources, and science and technology capability, is one of the three pillars of the Master Plan for Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesia Economic Development (MP3EI) 2011-25. The plan envisages a key role for universities and industry in research and innovation, as a spur to increased competitiveness and economic growth.
This policy brief was developed from Development of Strategies for University-Industry-Government Partnership in Indonesia, a study supported by the Education Sector Analytical and Capacity Development Partnership (ACDP) undertaken in 2012.
About ACDP
The Government of Indonesia (represented by the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of National Development Planning/ BAPPENAS), the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), the European Union (EU) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have established ACDP as a facility to promote policy dialogue and institutional and organizational reform of the education sector to underpin policy implementation and help reduce disparities in provincial and district education performance.
