Workshop Report: The Millennium Development Goals in Pacific Island Countries—Taking Stock, Emerging Issues, and the Way Forward

Publication | April 2011

This report is the output of the 2009 Subregional Workshop for Pacific on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

It takes stock of progress made in Pacific island countries in consideration of factors such as climate change, trade agreements, and the global crises related to food, fuel, and finance. To accelerate progress in achieving the MDGs, strong leadership, governance reforms, pro-poor infrastructure policies, better data collection, and institutional coordination are crucial. The Pacific island countries also need to better integrate MDGs into their national budgets and development strategies.
