Youth employment is a complex development challenge that requires comprehensive and integrated solutions to tackle underlying social and cultural dynamics as well as economic barriers. Targeted action is needed on both the demand and the supply sides of the labor market to improve the inclusion of young people. Youth have been heavily impacted by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic and recovery planning provides opportunities for governments to strengthen the labor market programs that can support young people.
