Hippocampus Learning Centers (HLC), a venture capital-backed company in India, has pioneered a model for improving learning outcomes by developing a low-cost system for delivering a supplementary education curriculum that focuses on a targeted set of learning outcomes. The ADB-supported Rural Education Project will increase access to affordable kindergarten and after-school programs in rural Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Hippocampus operates preschool and after-school coaching programs for children 3-12 years old in rural India. Each school is run by a female teacher from the local community and offers a new model for improving learning outcomes by developing a low-cost system for delivering a supplementary education curriculum.
