ADB, PRC co-host Summit on Low Carbon Technology

VP Susantono emphasized advancing clean technology in his opening remarks at the summit in Changsha, Hunan Province, People's Republic of China (PRC) on 19 October. Senior national and provincial PRC officials also spoke at the event. ADB and Hunan Province's Development and Reform Commission co-organized the summit which showcases low carbon technologies addressing climate change.

President Nakao addresses Innovation for Cool Earth Forum

Third Asian Judges Symposium opens

President Nakao gave welcome remarks at the Third Asian Judges Symposium on Law, Policy and Climate Change which opened on 26 September at ADB headquarters. ADB hosts UNFCCC Standing Committee on Finance

Vice-President Susantono gave opening remarks at a forum co-organized with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change on 5 September at ADB headquarters. He said there is a need for enhanced climate and disaster risk management, timely relief, and early recovery and reconstruction. The forum is focusing on financial instruments addressing risks associated with the effects of climate change. See the photo

ADB promotes use of technology, partnerships in climate action

President Nakao, in his opening address on 2 May at the Host Country Day event at the 49th Annual Meeting, highlighted that sustainability and climate change were critical global issues, especially for Asia and the Pacific region which faces serious challenges such as droughts and rising sea levels. He declared that technology and partnerships are crucial to reaching the COP21 targets.

President's Advisory Group holds eighth meeting in Germany

The President's Advisory Group on Climate Change and Sustainable Development met on 30 April in Frankfurt to discuss outcomes and implications of agreements on the post-2015 sustainable development goals and climate change for Asia and Pacific DMCs. President Nakao, in his opening speech, outlined how ADB's proposed Climate Change Strategic Framework for Action will help ADB deliver $6 billion in climate investment by 2020 and help DMCs meet their climate objectives.

VP Susantono attends Vulnerable 20 Group ministerial meeting

The Vice-President participated in the V20 Group ministerial meeting held on 14 April on the sidelines of the IMF and the WB Group Spring Meetings in Washington, DC. VP Susantono announced ADB's support to the group of finance ministers from vulnerable developing countries to strengthen their fiscal resilience to disasters.

VP Susantono launches report on climate change mitigation in Southeast Asia

The Vice-President welcomed developing member countries, academia, and news media at an event to discuss research findings of the regional publication Southeast Asia and the Economics of Global Climate Stabilization on 11 January in Manila. Vice-President Susantono highlighted how mitigation can benefit the region by controlling deforestation, increasing energy efficiency, and deploying new energy technologies.
