Sustainable Infrastructure
ADB promotes a shift to environmentally sustainable, low-carbon, and climate-resilient infrastructure to reduce negative impacts on the environment while more effectively serving the needs of local communities.
The Asia and Pacific region's projected investments in infrastructure amounts to trillions of dollars per year. This presents a significant opportunity to design, build, and operate infrastructure based on the principles of sustainability and inclusive green growth. ADB promotes infrastructure investments that optimize the use of renewable resources and improve resource use efficiency. At the same time, sustainable infrastructure can serve the needs of local communities, find appropriate roles for public and private sectors, and minimize environmental impacts.
