Judges and Prosecutors in Afghanistan Receive Expert Legal Training, Focused on Rights of Women, from ADB
ADB, in partnership with the Supreme Court of Afghanistan and the Attorney General’s Office, trained 140 judges and prosecutors on laws specific to gender sensitization, access to justice, and violence against women.
A joint ADB-UN report provides a statistical baseline from which to assess progress towards gender equality in the region, as outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals. Download report
The power project supports livelihood improvement of local communities in the project area, especially for women. Tunggul Bute's Family Welfare Organization is one of the recipients of these efforts. Women are provided with training and access to technology expanding their coffee production and increasing their incomes.
Gender equality and women’s empowerment are essential for meeting Asia’s aspirations of inclusive and sustainable development. Gender equality needs to be pursued in its own right for a just and equal society, and for better development outcomes - inclusive growth, faster poverty reduction and Sustainable Development Goals.
